The ABL Format

The Accra Basketball League is organized across three divisions: Men's Division 1, Men's Division 2, and the Women's Division. Each division starts with regular-season play, then moves into playoffs to decide champions and, where applicable, promotion.

Regular Season

Teams play a round-robin schedule and earn their place on the table through wins, losses, and point difference. The final standings determine who qualifies for the postseason.

Men's Division 1

The top men's tier in Accra basketball.

Men's Division 2

A promotion pathway for clubs fighting to reach Division 1.

Women's Division

The league's senior women's competition.

Men's Division 1

Division 1 is the league's elite men's competition. Teams are competing for playoff position while also trying to avoid the relegation places.

Regular season

Teams play through the regular season for points. Wins, losses, and point difference shape the standings.

Playoffs

The top four teams qualify. Semifinals are played as best-of-three series, followed by a best-of-three final. The semifinal losers meet in a one-game third-place playoff.

Promotion and relegation

The bottom two teams are relegated to Men's Division 2 for the next season.
